Recap of Last Year’s “Other” Desserts
Some desserts don’t fall into a major category, so I label them Other. Eventually, I’ll update my labels and create a Cake and Pie label, but until then, here’s my Top 5 list of “Other” desserts.
This Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread was a concoction I dreamed up for a Bundt-Off. Yes, I have crazy friends, and yes, this is crazy delicious. I need to make it again…
When a special occasion popped up, I knew instantly that I wanted needed to make this Chocolate Overdose Cake. I topped it with chocolate covered strawberries to add some elegance. It was exactly what you’d expect from a layer of brownie, topped with chocolate mousse, topped with a chocolate cake layer, all overed in chocolate ganache.
When spring rolled around, I made this Lemon Raspberry Cake. It was the first time I had ever decorated a layer cake and I was pretty proud of how it turned out.
The Homemade Ding Dongs transported me back to a time of brown bagged lunches in the cafeteria of my middle school.
And I had to include Hubby’s first attempt at baking on my list. He made this Strawberry Shortcake Cake for my birthday and did a great job at it!

I am Jen the Beantown Baker. Engineer by day and baking maven by night. Hubby serves as my #1 fan and official taste tester. We got hitched back in 2006. Barefoot. In the sand. With the waves crashing behind us. It was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

I can’t decide which of those last 3 to try first…but I think I’m going with the Snickerdoodle Blondies. My husband and I are both nuts for snickerdoodles!
I adore anything pumpkin and the pumpkin spice brownies look wonderful!
I’ve tried the Almost Candy Bars but that’s it. I must try the others!
I have wanted to try all these! Especially the ice cream bars. Yum!
yum. yum. yum. and yum! love those ice cream bar thingys!
I am the cook in our family, my daughter the baker – I’ll have to show her this post – thanks for the recap!
I love “best of” posts. Every one of these goodies looks amazing!
oh my gosh, they all look amazing!
Ok, I’ll take one of each please! And could you please share your secret on cutting those perfect bars?! Mine always have crumbs coming off the edge, or part of it sticks to the knife and leaves a big hole in the bar!
Melissa – I always chill the brownies completely. Usually in the fridge. I find that helps. I also use a pastry cutter to cut them.
Thank you so much! I am even more impressed knowing that you can wait until these goodies are completely chilled before cutting into them. 🙂 I think that scraper needs to go on my Christmas list!
