Blog Recap – Cookies, Bars, Pies

Continuing with the blog recap that I started yesterday, today we’ll venture into the land of baking and desserts. Watch for my cupcake recap coming up later this week. For now, I’ll recap non-cupcake desserts from my blogging adventures over the past two years. I’m definitely known for my baking and it really cheers me up. The first thing I want to do after a long day at work is get in the kitchen and start baking.

Frito Candy – posted Dec 4, 2007 – Frito candy is a perfect combo of sweet and salty. I took this to our Beirut finals the first season we played and it disappeared in minutes.

Layered cookie cake – posted July 6, 2008 – everyone in my family loves those cookie cakes that you get at the mall. This cookie cake takes it to a whole different level. It’s got three layers of soft chewy chocolate chip cookie smothered with cream cheese frosting. My little sister and I made this and everyone really enjoyed it.

M&M Treats – posted Oct 21, 2008 – These treats are a family favorite. I grew up eating them during the holidays, but they’re perfect for any occasion. And they’re so easy to make. Again, the salty-sweet combo is always a crowd pleaser.

Cupcake bites – posted Oct 22, 2008 – These cupcakes bites have been seen all over the internet. They fun and festive and can be made in any flavor combination. They do take a bit of time, but it’s worth it in the end.

Depths of Fall Pie – posted Nov 17, 2008 – I’m nbot a big pie person, but I could be if every pie out there was as good as this one. It’s got great fall flavors. I took this pie to Thanksgiving last year and it was a hit.

Oreo Brownies – posted Nov 24, 2008 – This has been my go to brownie recipe ever since I first made it last year. Of course, you can’t go wrong with a homemade brownie recipe that has huge chunks fo Oreos in it. I’ve made this recipe over and over, including making it into brownie pops for my Mother in Law’s surprise birthday party.

Lumberjacks – posted Dec 6, 2008 – these cookies are Hubby’s favorite holiday cookie. I had never heard of them (and have no idea why they’re called Lumberjacks), but once his mom gave me the recipe, I’ve made them multiple times. They so soft and chewy.

Sugar Cookies – posted Dec 9, 2008 – I had a lot of fun comparing three different sugar cookie recipes. Each one had it’s pros and cons and I often refer back to this post when I am in need of a sugar cookie recipe.

Chocolate Peppermint Meringues – posted Dec 22, 2008 – This was the first time I had ever made meringues. It was so fun to make these festive cookies that were enjoyed by everyone

Sugar Cookie Bars – posted April 7, 2009 – Oh man, these sugar cookie bars are amazing. They’re so easy to make, soft and chewy, and the frosting is super sweet. I definitely need to make these again ASAP.

I just made chocolate espresso cupcakes with the chocolate chip cookie dough icing. They taste delicious. Not very esthetically pleasing since I’m not too good at piping the icing, but who cares since they taste so good. 🙂
