Avon Walk Weekly Update

It’s time again for my weekly Avon Walk update. If you’d like to see my full training calendar, check it out here or on the left sidebar of my blog.

Thoughts on training: Yesterday was the first day of spring and the weather in Boston was beautiful! Hubby is up north snowboarding, so my friend K and I went on a walk Friday night and Saturday during the day. On Saturday morning (before our Sat walk) I noticed some pain on the top of my left foot. It was worse when I walked quickly, so K and I had to have a pretty slow pace. We also took a break where I removed both shoes and rubbed my left foot about half way through our walk. I didn’t a quick internet search and it looks like it’s caused from not stretching your calf muscles… If anyone knows more about this, let me know.

Thoughts on fundraising: A couple more donations showed up this week, which is great! I’m getting very close to my goal of $2,500.

Miles walked last week: 11.7
Minutes doing cardio: 0
Minutes doing cross training or weight lifting: 0
Total $$ raised: $2,170

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far! If you’d like to donate to support my walk, you can make a donation on my Avon Walk page.

After Super Storm Sandy hit NYC, I was amazed how many people were willing to give to my collection to help friends in need. I’m glad I have a chance to return the favor. I wish all the best to your family, they are in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom’s home. My parents, grandma, and brother and his family all live in Washington. I am about an hour south. My brother lives a few blocks the tornado path and mom and Grandma were at Crossroads church which was really close to it. If there is anything that my family can do to help your mom, please let me know. My parents are volunteering and looking for people that they can provide assistance to.

Small world. The whole community really came together this week and it has been amazing. It’s a long road to go, but we’ve very grateful for all the thoughts and prayers.
