Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Chocolate covered strawberries are so simple to make. And they make great gifts or garnishes for cakes, brownies, cupcakes etc. I wanted to share the process I used for making chocolate covered strawberries since Valentine’s Day is coming up soon.

Printable Instructions
What you’ll need:
strawberries
paper towels
chocolate cut into small pieces or chips
tooth picks
piece of styrafoam from craft store
aluminum foil

First wash your strawberries then set them on a paper towel so they dry completely. I also put a paper towel on top of the strawberries.

Cover your styrafoam with aluminum foil so you can use the foam again later.

Next melt your chocolate. I usually just use Ghirardelli chips for this. Put a small amount of chips in a plastic bowl and microwave at 50% power. I use my auto-defrost for this because it uses low power. Stir the chips every 30 seconds until they are melted completely. Some people like to add vegetable oil to their chocolate to thin it out, but I prefer not to use oil.

Stick a toothpick into the husk of the strawberry. Dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate. Swirl the strawberry as you pull it out of the chocolate to remove any excess chocolate. Stick the toothpick into the foam so you don’t get feet.

Allow chocolate to set for about 30 minutes.

For the white chocolate drizzles, I just melt some white chocolate in a ziplock bag. Snip off a corner and drizzle over chocolate.

Don’t forget – I’m offering a chance to win a cute tote if you donate $5 or more to my Avon Walk by the end of January. See details here.

Your strawberries are beautiful! I like to add a little salt to my chocolate…it really brings out the flavor! There are perfect for V-day :) I made your crustless quiche last night…to die for!! Thanks for the recipe.

Very pretty. I kind of like them on a stick! It would be a fun way to serve them.

Beautiful! Chocolate covered strawberries are a favorite of mine. What a great idea putting them upright in foam so they don’t grow feet! I’m going to try that the next time I make them. :)
