blog {really} interrupted

Well guys, it’s been a while… Last year, when I took a month away from the blog, it was because we had just closed on our new house in Cincinnati and I had just started a new job. Both great reasons to need some time away.

Wicked!

The last time I brought you guys a new recipe was in April! And the last one before that was in March. While there hasn’t been one big event that I can use as an excuse, I have been a busy little bee and have been missing my blog immensely. Thanks everyone who sent me messages saying you missed me too!

So you might be wondering what I have been up to do. I’ve been spending time working on myself. Hubby and I have both been watching what we’re eating more, which means fewer desserts. We’ve actually both lost about 20 pounds this year!

My nephew Ryan

I’ve still been baking for coworkers and friends, but I’ve mostly been repeating some of my favorites from the blog. I do have some new recipes to share with you guys soon.

Hubby and I have also been working on our relationship. It might be taboo to discuss this here, but we had been tackling some tough issues recently. After being together for 13 years, the last couple of years of our marriage have been tough. I’m happy to say that with some professional help, we are now happier and stronger as a couple than ever.

Boston!

Things at work are as busy as ever, and I’m loving my job more than I ever have. I’ve hired 3 new people to join the team and getting them up to speed has been a fun/busy time for everyone.

We’ve been doing some traveling this year. My sisters and I went to visit our baby sister at college in Kenosah, Wisconsin. Hubby and I made a trip back to Boston to visit with friends. Then we visited Nashville, which was AWESOME. We loved it there!

I walked my 6th Avon Walk for Breast Cancer with my 2 sisters and my mom in Chicago. And this year, I’ve gotten to spend quite a bit of time which my nephew which has been great.

My birthday party!

Oh and Hubby threw a big cookout for my birthday! We had a bunch of people over for a great afternoon of delicious food, friends, and fun.

So all in all, life is good. Really good. Better than it’s been in a long time. I’m hoping to be back around more frequently. I promise it won’t be months before my next recipe post!

Welcome back! Glad to hear that things are going so well for you, and even happier to hear that you should be posting some new stuff soon. Also, good for you for taking the time you need. We women don’t say “no” enough and often we end up suffering because of that.

Sounds like these past few months have been filled with lots of great things! Good for you for taking time off. I completely understand; I’ve been MIA from blogging for awhile due to a move. How I’ve missed it! I’m hoping to get a post up soon and was planning to post pics of what I’ve been up to lately, too. Looking forward to more posts from you, Jen!

So excited to see you back in action! I can appreciate the honesty around working on your relationship – my husband & I are coming up on 12 years together ourselves (married for almost 6), and I agree that things can get pretty tough! We did a few months of counseling to see if we could work through things, & while we still have some work ahead, we’re doing a lot better now. So glad that whatever you guys have done, it’s been helpful!

Can’t wait to try the Food Lab cookies. 🙂
