Blog Interrupted

Sometimes life gets in the way of my little blogging hobby. Now is one of those times. It’s been over two weeks since my last post went live. I can’t remember the last time my blog wasn’t updated in two weeks. While I don’t have a recipe to share with you guys today, I thought I’d update you on why there has been radio silence for so long. (If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen these pics).

At the end of March, Hubby and I closed on our new home here in Cincinnati. It’s a cute little house that we’re really excited about. It feels HUGE compared to our tiny condo in Boston. One thing I fell in love when we looked at this house was the cute red door.

And the kitchen. Let me tell you about the kitchen. It’s amazing. It was renovated in 2011 and has top end everything. There is a TON of cabinet and counter space. Hubby and I have both enjoyed quite a bit of time in this kitchen already. I have still been making new foods for the blog, just haven’t had time to even download the photos onto the computer yet…

One of the first things I did was to start organizing the kitchen. I also ordered a 25 lb bag of King Arthur Flour and some storage containers to organize my baking cabinet. Hubby has started baking bread recently, so he is completely on board with us having enough flour in the house at all times! I’m hoping he’ll do a guest post on here sometime soon. He wants to wait until he has perfected shaping his loaves of bread first.

One of the first things on Hubby’s to-do list with the new house was to buy a grill. Living in a condo in Boston, we had zero outdoor space. Grilling was something that we both missed immensely while we were there. It’s such a hassle-free way to cook and entertain. Our house came with a natural gas line for a grill to hook to right out on the patio.

Hubby chose the Weber Genesis E-330 and we have grilled on it every day since he bought it. We have 6 years worth of lost time to start making up. On the weekends we’ve been grilling for lunch and dinner. So I’m hoping to start including some grilling recipes on here in the future.

Another feature we love about the house is a solarium that’s right off the kitchen. It’s completely empty at this point, like quite a few rooms in the house, but we had a great thunderstorm come through the other day and it was neat to be in there during the storm.

So that’s a recap of what we’ve been up to. I plan to get some recipes posted within the next week or so. I forgot to mention that I got a promotion at work a couple weeks ago too so I’ve been more busy than usual with work stuff. So I’m trying to figure out how to manage the 24 hours in a day to do everything that I want to… I do have all sorts of drafts started, including some grilled food, some more ice cream, and obviously more desserts. So I will be be back soon enough.

What a lovely home. Congratulations! I bet you can’t believe how much room you have now. And that solarium is fantastic. Our daughter, Bridget, lives in Marblehead but her job is in Boston at America’s Test Kitchen. I would often send her articles you wrote. One thing you will miss is the jargon, the way they talk. But Cincinnati is a lovely city. You two will have a lot of fun there and the food is fantastic. Enjoy it all. Best wishes.

Thanks for the kind words! Our condo in Boston was less than a half mile from ATK. I had a friend Megan who worked there too. Small world.

Congrats on your new home. Last month I also moved from a condo to a house and it feels really great to have all the space plus a backyard to enjoy grilling, taking food pics etc. Enjoy !

Isn’t it a great feeling? I have been surprised at how much stuff we had in our tiny condo!

Congrats on the new home! So jealous of all your kitchen space! Try to enjoy filling the empty spaces , which can be so hard 😉

Congrats on the house AND the promotion. The solarium should be great for indoor planting of herbs, etc.! 🙂

    • beantownbaker — April 18th, 2013 @ 11:30 am

Thanks 🙂 I actually put a plant in the solarium and it started wilting. I think it gets TOO much sunlight in there… I think I just need to find the right plant…
