Superbowl Snack Throwdown – Week 10

I’m glad to say that the swine flu has left the building. It took me all week to recover and I only made it in to work one full day and two half days. It was not fun. But I’m back in business now. Hubby and I had a great weekend just hanging out and watching some football.

And now it’s time to review Highlowaha’s Super Bowl Snack Throwdown recipes from Kate and Lauren. This week’s secret ingredient is tortillas! As a reminder, recipes are to be judged on the following criterion: Creative use of the ingredient, most likely to be eaten first, best photograph, and reproducibility. So now, on to the recipes (be sure to click through to check out the entire recipes).

Kate made “Lime”backer Tortilla Chicken Strips.

Lauren made Cheeseburger Quesadillas.

I’m going to start with creativity this week. Kate wins in creativity this week. I love those Hint of Lime Tostitos as well and the idea of breading some chicken with them sounds amazing to me.

Best photograph this week goes to Lauren. She’s back to creating photos that look like they could be in a food magazine.

When it comes to most likely to be eaten first, I’m going to have to call it a tie. I think finger foods tend to go quickly at any football gathering, and both chicken tenders and quesadillas would go quickly. I’m sure I’d be digging in to both of these as soon as I saw them.

As far as reproducibility goes, I have to give this one to Lauren. Her recipe is very simple and could probably be created in about 15 minutes, which is nice.

Congratulations Lauren! I can’t wait to see what you and Kate come up with next week!!

I’ve placed my vote, now it’s time for you to cast yours! Be sure to go to Highlowaha to vote for your favorite of these two recipes.

Your food looks great! We are huge sports watchers in our house. I’m the only one who watches college football (Go Buckeyes!) and together we watch NFL. He is a Patriots fan and I’m a Brown’s fan. Please don’t laugh at my team of choice:) I was born and raised in Ohio and I have to support the home team!

Gotta say – the potato skins look great! But then, I’ve never had a mushroom dip before, so that sounds really interesting too.
    Great job everyone!
