Are you ready for some football???? Superbowl Snack Throwdown – Week 1
My favorite season is by far football season. I really enjoy fall weather, all the pumpkin baked goods, wearing sweatshirts, and of course watching football! I’m a HUGE college football fan (We’re watching the Purdue vs Oregon game right now! Go Boilers!) and introduced Hubby to it back when we were dating. He went to a small school on the East Coast and had no idea what he was missing until I took him to his first Purdue home game. Going to football games was a huge part of the college experience for me.
So now that football season has started, it’s time for Highlowaha’s Super Bowl Snack Throwdown. If you remember, a few weeks ago, I frantically begged for you to go vote for me to participate in the Snack Throwdown. Turns out I didn’t get enough votes, but the lovely ladies over at Highlowaha invited me to participate as a celebrity judge! So every week, Kate and Lauren will be competing in the Super Bowl Snack Throwdown and I get to place my vote.
Recipes are to be judged on the following criterion: Creative use of the ingredient, most likely to be eaten first, best photograph, and reproducibility. So now, on to the recipes (be sure to click through to check out the entire recipes).
Kate made Pizza Pie Poppers.
Lauren made New England vs Buffalo Sausage Balls.
Both of these recipes look great. I think overall, they would both be easy enough for a cook of any skill level to make themselves. And I have no doubt that they would both disappear quickly at a football gathering! As far as the creativity when it comes to the secret ingredient, both of these recipes are pretty standard uses for sausage. The last judging criteria is the photograph. Since I can’t taste these recipes, all I have to go on is the pictures and the words in the blog post. As a fellow food blogger, food photography has become a big hobby of mine. Thus, the scales tip in Lauren’s favor this week.
Congratulations Lauren! I can’t wait to see what you and Kate come up with next week using the secret ingredient: Mushroom.
I’ve placed my vote, now it’s time for you to cast yours! Be sure to go to Highlowaha to vote for your favorite of these two recipes.
Thank you so much for your kind words and constructive criticism. I just started reading your reviews this past week because I wasn’t aware you were doing such an elaborate write up about them. I didn’t realize photography was important in your decision! My hubby brought our super awesome camera home from work and helped me get some pictures this week, and obviously it paid off. My photography skills don’t go much past trying to catch my toddlers doing something funny before they STOP doing it. Thanks for your vote this week and I look forward to your upcoming reviews!!!!
Have fun in the midwest! I’m leaving for Ohio on Tuesday…gotta love home:)
Yep Kate, photography is supposed to be one of the four categories I use to judge!!
Both of these recipes looked amazing, but I agree with the selection. The pumpkin footballs were my pick, too. I love pumpkin, and these little footballs look really tasty.
Good job, Kate.
what great treats for football season! I think both looked great.
