Granite baby!

The granite got installed yesterday and it’s so nice to have counter space again!! The end is getting very near.

As you can see, our awesome kitchen designer had the great idea of putting a countertop above the radiator. The height of that counter is 30″ instead of the standard 36″ but I have no doubt that it will be extremely useful. I think that one piece of granite doubles our granite square footage and I can’t thank our designer enough for that genius idea.

And look – the first thing we needed to find a home for was my KitchenAid mixer. It looks so great in it’s new permanent home!

I know it looks weird that we still have that subway tiling with the leftover liquid nails. Have no fear, we are putting up a different backsplash that will cover the ugliness. We’re hoping to get that finished up this weekend.

AND, the most exciting part of this week comes today when the plumber hooks up our appliances!! We’re having a celebratory dinner at home since we’ll be able to cook for ourselves for the first time in 6 weeks!!

Thanks Ingrid!! We’re hoping the cabinets will be done today. The granite guys come Thursday to make the template. Then it’s 1-3 weeks for them to make the granite. Once the granite goes in, the plumber/electrician come back to hook everything up! So we’re hoping things will be done in about 2 weeks!
