When we moved from Cincinnati to Boston in 2007, we took a major hit in the squarefootage department. But we love living in Boston, so it's worth it. In 2009, we decided we were sick of our poorly laid out, majorly out of date kitchen. We had it gutted and completely renovated. It's still pretty dang small, but our kitchen designer had some great ideas that gave us more counterspace and more storage. We love it!
When Beantown Baker was started back in 2007, I was obsessed with cupcakes. More recently, I've been leaning towards cookies and bars/brownies. I love all desserts and have a huge to-bake list. While Hubby serves as my number one taste tester, our coworkers and friends get to enjoy my baked goods on a regular basis as well.
I've been trying to learn as much as I can about photography over the past few years. In 2008 I got a Nikon D40 and in 2009 I got a 35mm prime lens, which is what I shoot my food photographs with 99% of the time. I am lucky that our kitchen has huge windows so I can get a lot of natural light during the day. The problem is shooting dinner pics after the sun has gone down... I'm learning as I go though.
I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to leave me a comment or shoot me an email.

Hi, Jen, I'm the Publicity Director at Storey Publishing in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. We've just published a beautiful coffee-table recipe book of cakes from around the world, entitled A World of Cake by Krystina Castella. I'd love to send you the book for your review and we'd be happy to offer a copy or two as a giveaway on any of your blogs. Would that be possible? Please let me know by email if I can send off the book to you. I'm at amy.greeman@storey.com.
Thanks,
Amy
Hey Jen! I am a senior at Rutgers University and I happen to stumble upon your blog. I saw your recipe for the Oreo (cookies n cream) cupcakes and I couldn't resist trying to make them. They came out so awesome!!! Thanks so much for sharing. Since then I have rapidly developed a passion for baking. I have a feeling I will end up working by day and baking by night after I graduate. Thank you for the inspiration!!
