Boston Lobster Party

From the second I heard about the Boston Lobster Party, I knew Hubby would want to go. You see, he’s a HUGE lobster fan. I snagged tickets for the two of us and we set off.

The Boston Lobster Party was sponsored by @eatBoston and was held at the SoWa Trolley Barn. We had never been there but it was a pretty cool building. We had great weather on Saturday. It was a bit chilly, but nothing horrible.

When we got in, they gave us a plate, a spork, a cup, and some tickets.

We set out to get some food. That’s what the tickets were for even though in the end you wouldn’t have been able to eat much more because of the long lines. Luckily the beer lines were short so we would take turns stepping out of line to refill our beers while waiting for more food.

Hubby and I were able to try almost all the food because we would share things. We decided to start with the entrees because the appetizer line was crazy from the beginning. First we tried this lobster grilled sandwich from Gaslight. The bread was amazing and light. Our sandwich didn’t have a lot of lobster in it, but it was a tasty sandwich.

Next was a lobster fritter from Union with a sauce on top. They were frying these up fresh and I honestly don’t remember anything about this little guy…

These lobster cupcakes were from South End Buttery The “frosting” seemed to be cream cheese based and it was way too over powering. Once we scraped it off, the lobster flavor came through much better.

We waited in a long line for this beer and lobster risotto and cookie from Petit Robert Bistro. The risotto was very buttery. Hubby really liked it. I thouroughly enjoyed the cookie! Also very buttery and delicious.

The lettuce wrap was from Trina’s Starlight Lounge. This was our favorite food from the whole day. We loved the ginger in the lobster salad and the various textures in this wrap.

Next I went with the lobster salad taco (Hubby got the sandwich) from Garden at the Cellar. The salad was a bit too mayo-ey for my tastes, but wasn’t bad.

Last, we hit up the appetizer line. There we got lobster bisque from Tavolo, espresso shakes and lobster roll cupcake (already mentioned) from South End Buttery and some lobster cheesecake from Wicked Kickin’ Savory Cheesecake. The bisque wasn’t warm by the time we had it and was just ok. Didn’t have a whole lot of flavor. Hubby enjoyed the small shot of espresso shake but I didn’t try it. The lobster cheesecake was pretty freaking delicious. Probably our second favorite of the day.

Overall, Hubby and I had a great time tasting some lobster foods and beers. We’ll definitely be getting tickets if this event happens again!

I really wanted to go, but couldn’t justify going to yet another beer fest and Ben doesn’t eat anything that comes from water. I went to their Bacon and Beer fest and I think the tickets were a great idea–the B@B fest ran out of food in like an hour and a half. Did they still do the ticketing with lines for last names? I thought that was odd. Love what @eatboston is trying to do, though!
