Superbowl Snack Throwdown – Week 4

The weather here in Boston today was sunny and beautiful. I nice break from the low temperatures we’ve been experiencing. It’s week four of Highlowaha’s Super Bowl Snack Throwdown and that means it’s time to check out the recipes from Kate and Lauren. This week’s secret ingredient is potato! As a reminder, recipes are to be judged on the following criterion: Creative use of the ingredient, most likely to be eaten first, best photograph, and reproducibility. So now, on to the recipes (be sure to click through to check out the entire recipes).

Kate made Pigskin Potato Quesadillas.

Lauren made Sweet Potato Hummus.

For potato, most people instantly think of potato skins, but both Kate and Lauren got more creative than that! And boy were they creative this week! I don’t know how they do it week after week…

When it comes to reproducibility of these two recipes, I think it’s a draw. They both look quite simple and Kate even included step by step photos. I think both Kate and Lauren were very creative in their interpretation of the ingredient. I have never thought to put potatoes in quesadillas OR hummus. The ease of eating finger foods like the quesadillas vs the fact that dips are so easy to eat, makes me believe that both of these snack foods would go quickly at any football gathering. I think this week it’s a draw before considering the photograph of the food. I’m going to have to give that category to Lauren again. She has some great food photography on her blog!

Congratulations Lauren! I can’t wait to see what you and Kate come up with next week!!

I’ve placed my vote, now it’s time for you to cast yours! Be sure to go to Highlowaha to vote for your favorite of these two recipes.

Your food looks great! We are huge sports watchers in our house. I’m the only one who watches college football (Go Buckeyes!) and together we watch NFL. He is a Patriots fan and I’m a Brown’s fan. Please don’t laugh at my team of choice:) I was born and raised in Ohio and I have to support the home team!

Gotta say – the potato skins look great! But then, I’ve never had a mushroom dip before, so that sounds really interesting too.
    Great job everyone!
